na + Accusative or Locative

Onto and at

Level 2

Na takes the accusative for a destination and the locative for a location.

How It Works

Na takes the accusative for a destination and the locative for a location. The choice between v and na is partly lexical: learn na pošti and na univerzi as phrases.

With miza, compare na mizo and na mizi. With pošta, the same endpoint/location contrast applies although English often uses to/at. Learn which places use na together with their case pair instead of translating every English in as v.

Examples (3)

  1. Grem na pošto.

I am going to the post office.

  2. Sem na pošti.

I am at the post office.

  3. Knjigo položim na mizo.

I put the book on the table.
