Feminine Nouns Ending in a Consonant

Level 5

Nouns such as noč and stvar are feminine despite their consonant endings.

How It Works

Nouns such as noč and stvar are feminine despite their consonant endings. Their declension differs from the common -a class, including noč, noči and instrumental nočjo.

For noč, learn nominative/accusative noč, genitive/dative/locative noči and instrumental nočjo. The feminine adjective still agrees normally: dolga noč. Do not classify a noun as masculine merely because its dictionary form lacks -a.
