koliko, veliko, malo
Asking About Quantity
Koliko, veliko and malo commonly take a genitive complement when expressing quantity.
How It Works
Koliko, veliko and malo commonly take a genitive complement when expressing quantity. Countable nouns usually use genitive plural; mass nouns use genitive singular.
Choose the noun's interpretation first: veliko vode measures a substance, while veliko knjig counts separate objects. Koliko časa asks for an amount of time, whereas Koliko je ura? asks for the clock time and is a different construction.
