ما ↔ همدیگر: each participant relates to another participant.

How It Works

Mark a reciprocal object. ما همدیگر را می‌شناسیم makes the participants the people known to one another. را belongs to the reciprocal direct-object phrase; می‌شناسیم identifies the speaker’s group.

Keep a required preposition. به یکدیگر کمک می‌کنیم uses به with the people receiving help. با همدیگر حرف می‌زنیم uses با for the people talking together. Do not replace those relations with را simply because the referent is human.

Read register. همدیگر is common in ordinary usage; یکدیگر often appears in more careful or written phrasing. Everyday Iranian speech can also reduce همدیگر to همدیگه. Label the reduced form in a dialogue rather than carrying it into a formal paragraph.

Compare reflexive action. هر کس به خودش کمک کرد describes self-directed help. به همدیگر کمک کردند describes help across participants. With larger groups, the sentence need not claim that every possible pair interacted.
