زیرِ، رویِ، کنارِ
Place Phrases with Ezafe
زیرِ میز means under the table, and کنارِ خانه means beside the house. The connector belongs inside the location phrase.
How It Works
Connect the place relation. زیرِ میز contains زیر, “under,” the spoken connector -e, and میز, “table.” کنارِ خانه similarly identifies a place beside the house.
In رویِ میز, the phrase is pronounced ru-ye miz. The vowel-final location word uses the -ye link, whose ی is visible in روی. A displayed vowel mark is a teaching aid; ordinary writing commonly gives روی میز.
A pronoun can be the complement too: کنارِ من, “beside me.” Keep the connector even when it is not separately written in ordinary text.
Place the whole phrase in a sentence: کتاب رویِ میز است. The noun کتاب is the subject of this statement, and رویِ میز tells where it is. Do not add را merely because میز is known.
Some fuller written location expressions also have a preceding preposition. Learn the actual expression rather than forcing every location word into one identical spelling pattern.

Keep the ezafe connector inside a location phrase, and distinguish it from a simple preposition’s direct complement.
