ちゃう
Kansai: Saying a Noun Predicate Is Not True
After a noun or na-adjective predicate, ちゃう can mean is not in casual Kansai speech.
How It Works
私の傘ちゃう denies that the umbrella is mine. 静かちゃう denies a na-adjective property. Verbs use their own negative forms, such as -へん or -ん.
Identify the construction from what precedes it. 食べちゃう can be the completion/regret contraction, so the syllables ちゃう alone do not prove a regional negative.
A question or follow-on explanation changes the conversational effect. This card covers predicate negation rather than treating every lexical or auxiliary use as the same grammar.
