Today, Tomorrow, Yesterday: taa, echi, ụnyaahụ
Today, Tomorrow, Yesterday
Taa: today. Echi: tomorrow. Ụnyaahụ: yesterday.
How It Works
Four time words are easy to use.
| Word | Meaning | Example |
|---|---|---|
| taa | today | Ada na-agụ akwụkwọ taa. |
| echi | tomorrow | Ọ ga-abịa echi. |
| ụnyaahụ | yesterday | Anyị gara ahịa ụnyaahụ. |
| ugbu a | now | Ugbu a, ọ nọ n'ụlọ. |
Time words usually come last, but ugbu a can also start the sentence. The verb does the real work of showing past or future. Echi goes with ga- and ụnyaahụ with a past form. Taa often goes with na-, but it can also go with a past form, as in Ọ gara ahịa taa “he or she went to the market today”.
