Putting Words in Order
Subject, verb, object, then place and time.
How It Works
The order is like English: subject, verb, object.
| Subject | Verb | Object | Place or time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ada | riri | nri | |
| Obi | gụrụ | akwụkwọ | taa |
| Nne m | zụtara | anụ | n'ahịa |
Describing words, numbers, owners and a or ahụ all come after the noun they go with: ụlọ ọhụrụ, akwụkwọ atọ, nne m, nwoke ahụ. The pronoun for I, m, comes after the verb or its helper: Aga m.
Questions with a question word often start with it: Gịnị ka ị chọrọ?
