nwere: To Have
O nwere… He or she has… Enwere m… I have…
How It Works
Nwere is the verb for owning or having.
| Example | Meaning |
|---|---|
| O nwere ụmụ abụọ. | He or she has two children. |
| Enwere m ego. | I have money. |
| Enweghi m ego. | I have no money. |
| Ada nwere ụlọ ọhụrụ. | Ada has a new house. |
With m, the pronoun comes after the verb and the verb takes e- in front, as in Aga m. The pronoun for he or she before nwere is o, because its vowels are from the first group. Nwere ike means “be able”, taught later.
