enwere: There Is, There Are
Enwere + thing + place. The negative is enweghi.
How It Works
Enwere without a subject means “there is” or “there are”.
| Example | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Enwere ahịa n'obodo anyị. | There is a market in our town. |
| Enwere ụmụ akwụkwọ ebe ahụ. | There are students there. |
| Enweghi mmiri n'ụlọ. | There is no water at home. |
It looks like Enwere m “I have” but there is no m. The negative enweghi says there is not. The noun does not change for one or many.
