Dialect Words
Standard first, dialect as a note.
How It Works
Igbo has many dialects, and everyday words can differ from town to town.
| Standard | In some places |
|---|---|
| mma good | nma |
Lessons teach the standard form. A dialect word is a note, and it names where it is used only when a source does. Do not mix dialects in one sentence.
A teacher or a relative may use a regional word. Ask what it means and note it, then keep using the standard form in writing. Respect every variety.
