Logo Meaning So

Level 4

As an adverb, logo means soon or later. It can also link ideas and mean so or therefore: Penso, logo existo (I think, therefore I am).

How It Works

The time meanings

  • Soon: Chego logo, non tardo (I will be there soon, I will not be long).
  • Later, then: Primeiro comemos e logo imos dar un paseo (first we eat and then we go for a walk). See also ata logo.

The conclusion meaning

As a conjunction, logo means so or therefore: Non contesta, logo non está na casa (she is not answering, so she is not at home). In a question, it asks the listener to confirm a conclusion: Logo xa o sabías?

Fixed phrases

  • e logo: as an answer it means of course (—Vés? —E logo!); in a question it can mean so? or why?.
  • logo de = after (logo de comer), a synonym of despois de.
  • xa que logo = therefore, in formal writing (see formal consequence connectors).
  • pois logo = well then (see pois).

Galician form. The word is logo. Spanish luego and hasta luego are not Galician: say logo and ata logo.

Common Mistakes

  • Using the Spanish word luego.

    Luego xa o sabías?
    Logo xa o sabías?

The Galician word is logo, in both its time and its conclusion meanings.

  • Saying hasta logo.

    Hasta logo!
    Ata logo!

Galician uses ata, not the Spanish hasta.
