Saying Yes and No

Level 1

After the answer, add the key word: نه، خسته نیستم.

How It Works

MeaningPoliteWith friends
yesبلی، بلهها
noنهنی

Put the answer first, then a comma, then the rest: بلی، من معلم استم. ها، خوب استم.

Use بلی and نه with a teacher, an older person or a stranger. Use ها and نی with a friend, a sibling or a child.

Answer a polite question with a polite word. A teacher who asks gets بلی or نه. A friend who asks can get ها or نی.

Do not say آره for yes. آره is Iranian Persian, and Dari does not use it.
