Comparative + od / nego
What Something Is Compared with
Od takes a genitive comparison; nego can introduce a phrase or clause.
How It Works
After od, use a genitive noun or pronoun: od Ivana, od mene, od nje. This preposition supplies the case.
Nego can introduce an abbreviated comparison such as viši nego ja or a full clause such as bolje nego što sam očekivao. With an abbreviated clause, understand the missing predicate to choose the appropriate form and meaning.
Do not transfer the genitive requirement of od to every phrase after nego. A longer clause is useful when a shorter comparison could leave unclear who is doing what.
