Adjective number agreement
A plural noun requires plural adjective agreement, even in a longer noun phrase.
How It Works
Many nouns and adjectives add s directly: llibre/llibres, gran/grans and noi/nois. Change accompanying articles and adjectives too: el llibre nou becomes els llibres nous. The plural noun alone does not complete the agreement.
An adjective follows the number of the noun it describes even if it appears after a verb or another phrase: les cases del carrer són petites. Do not let a nearby singular noun such as carrer attract singular agreement away from cases.
Shared singular gender forms can still have visible plural endings: difícil/difícils, amable/amables. Feliç has gender-sensitive plurals feliços and felices. With two coordinated nouns described together, plural agreement is the ordinary model. When only one noun is intended, make the reference explicit so the reader does not have to guess which words the adjective describes.
