Superlative
naj- + comparative = the most.
How It Works
| Comparative | Superlative |
|---|---|
| bolji | najbolji |
| ljepši | najljepši |
| stariji | najstariji |
| veći | najveći |
| manji | najmanji |
The superlative agrees with its noun: najbolji burek, najbolja pita, najbolje selo.
To mean "in" a place, use u with the locative: najveći grad u Bosni. For a group of people or things, od and the genitive are often used: najbolja od svih.
Both ways are common: najbolji od svih (the best of all) names the group, and u gradu names the place. A place or group can also come first: U razredu je najbolja.
Adverbs work the same way: najbrže (fastest), najviše (most), najmanje (least).
