tako da
So That
So: tako da gives the result.
How It Works
Tako da joins two ideas: the first one is the reason, and the second one is the result.
- Pada snijeg, tako da su škole zatvorene. (It is snowing, so the schools are closed.)
- Kasno je, tako da idem kući. (It is late, so I am going home.)
Write a comma before it. The verb after da can be in any tense that fits: the present, the perfect or the future.
In speech, it is also used for a plan or purpose, with the present: Dođi ranije, tako da stignemo. Here it means so that we can be there on time. The context shows which one you have.
Plain pa (so, then) is the shorter, more casual way to do the same job. Zato (that is why) usually starts a new sentence.
