Seasons
The seasons are proljeće, ljeto, jesen and zima.
How It Works
A year has four seasons, called godišnja doba.
| Season | Gender | In that season |
|---|---|---|
| proljeće (spring) | neuter | u proljeće |
| ljeto (summer) | neuter | ljeti |
| jesen (autumn) | feminine | u jesen, na jesen |
| zima (winter) | feminine | zimi |
The gender matters for the words around the season: ljeto je vruće (neuter, -e) and zima je hladna (feminine, -a). People also use ljeti and zimi as a single word to mean in summer and in winter. Speakers use more than one way to say in autumn, so you will hear u jesen and na jesen.
