выйсці / выходзіць
Exiting with Выйсці and Выходзіць
Ён выйшаў з дому. (He left the house.) The prefix вы- means going out, and in выйсці it is always stressed.
How It Works
- выйсці (perfective, one exit): выйду, выйдзеш, выйдзе, выйдзем, выйдзеце, выйдуць; past выйшаў, выйшла, выйшлі; imperative выйдзі.
- выходзіць (imperfective): выходжу, выходзіш (the я-form change).
Why выйшаў? Other prefixes leave the stress on the ending: прыйшо́ў, пайшо́ў. The prefix вы- takes the stress in every form of выйсці: вы́йду, вы́йшла. In вы́йшаў the о is unstressed, so it is written а (akanye).
From where and to where. The place you leave takes з with the genitive (з + genitive): выйсці з дому, з пакоя, з аўтобуса. Where you come out takes на or у with the accusative: выйсці на вуліцу (to go outside).
Getting off. On public transport выходзіць means to get off: Мы выходзім на наступным прыпынку. A common question on a crowded bus is Вы выходзіце? (Are you getting off?)
By vehicle use выехаць and выязджаць: Мы выязджаем а шостай. (We leave at six.) The idiom выйсці замуж means to get married, said of a woman: Яна выйшла замуж. The opposite of going out is увайсці.

Leaving out з before the place you leave.
