wrthi'n
Busy Doing: Wrthi'n
Wrthi'n goes where the usual yn goes and adds "busy" or "in the middle of": Dw i wrthi'n coginio — I'm busy cooking.
How It Works
In different tenses
- Dw i wrthi'n coginio. — I'm busy cooking.
- Roedd hi wrthi'n peintio'r tŷ. — She was busy painting the house.
- Bydd e wrthi'n gweithio drwy'r dydd. — He'll be busy working all day.
- Wyt ti wrthi'n chwilio am waith? — Are you looking for work at the moment?
Word order. Wrthi'n replaces the ordinary yn, so it is Dw i wrthi'n ..., not Dw i'n wrthi'n ....
It doesn't change for the person. Wrthi comes from the personal forms of wrth (wrtho fe, wrthi hi), but in this phrase it stays the same for everyone: Mae e wrthi'n ..., Dyn ni wrthi'n ....
On its own: Mae'r plant wrthi eto! — The children are at it again! A similar idea appears in Dal ati! (Keep at it!) — see dal i.
