ha / hɔ
Here and There
ha = here, hɔ = there. Put them straight after the verb: Bra ha (Come here), Kɔ hɔ (Go there).
How It Works
Being here or there
- Mewɔ ha. (I am here.)
- Ɔwɔ hɔ. (He is there.)
- Ɔnni ha. (She is not here.) The negative of wɔ is nni.
Going here or there
After bra (come!) and kɔ (go), ha and hɔ follow directly, just like a place in kɔ + place:
- Bra ha. (Come here.)
- Kɔ hɔ. (Go there.)
- Fa to hɔ. (Put it there.)
Ɛha and ɛhɔ
With the prefix ɛ-, ɛha and ɛhɔ can be the subject of a sentence: Ɛha yɛ fɛ (It is nice here, literally here is nice).
Hɔ in there is
Hɔ is also part of wɔ hɔ, the way to say there is: Nsuo wɔ hɔ (There is water). So Ɔwɔ hɔ can mean he is there or he is present.
Here and there
Ha ne hɔ means here and there.

With ɛ-, ɛha works as a noun meaning this place.
Common Mistakes
Using yi (this) to mean here.
Kofi wɔ yi.Kofi wɔ ha.Yi means this and needs a noun before it. The place word for here is ha.
Adding wɔ between a verb of movement and ha or hɔ.
Bra wɔ ha.Bra ha.Wɔ means be at. After bra and kɔ, the place word follows directly.
