Notice The Written Character
Compare ฃ with ข and ฅ with ค. The film title ฅนไฟบิน begins with ฅ. The ordinary words used in the spelling exercise are ขวด, bottle, and คน, person. A letter in a title does not, by itself, establish the spelling history of every word.

How It Works

A Film Title
The film ฅนไฟบิน, also titled Dynamite Warrior in English, was released in 2006, corresponding to the Thai year 2549. Its title is written with ฅ. Preserve that title when identifying the film rather than silently changing it to คนไฟบิน.

The Ordinary Words
In the spelling exercise, ขวดน้ำ means a bottle of water and คน means a person. Choose ฉันซื้อขวดน้ำให้คนนั้น for ordinary modern spelling of those words. The alternative displays ฃวด and ฅน; those are different written choices and are not the standard spellings intended by this task.

Read The Sentence
เขาเป็นฅนดี means he is a good person, using ฅ in the written word ฅน. Recognize the meaning of that exact example. When writing the ordinary word person in the standard spelling used in this lesson, write คน.

Historical Context Has Limits
Old inscriptions contain ฃ and ฅ, but their historical sounds have different scholarly reconstructions. Recognizing the letters in old writing or a modern title does not establish one definite historical pronunciation or prove that a particular modern word always had a particular old spelling. Read the separate Thai Script Basics entry for the wider writing system.

Examples (3)

  1. ภาพยนตร์เรื่อง ฅนไฟบิน เข้าฉายในปี 2549

The film Dynamite Warrior (ฅนไฟบิน) was released in 2006.

    Word by Word: film | titled | ฅนไฟบิน | enter | cinema | in | year 2549

The exact film title begins with ฅ. The release year 2549 in the Thai calendar corresponds to 2006. This example identifies the film and its date without asserting why the filmmaker chose that spelling.

  2. เขาเป็นฅนดี

    He is a good person.

Word by Word: he | be | person | good

The written form uses ฅ in ฅน. เป็น connects the subject to a description as a good person. The meaning is readable without assigning the sentence a historical publishing origin. The ordinary standard spelling of person used in this lesson is คน.

  3. ฉันซื้อขวดน้ำให้คนนั้น

I bought a bottle of water for that person.

Word by Word: I | buy | bottle of water | for | person | that

This sentence uses ขวด in ขวดน้ำ and คน in คนนั้น, the ordinary spellings taught in this lesson. ให้ identifies the recipient, and นั้น identifies that person. The translation supplies past time as a contextual reading; ซื้อ alone does not mark tense. This written example makes no claim about the historical pronunciation or former spelling of either word.

Common Mistakes

  • Choose The Ordinary Spellings ขวด And คน

    ฉันซื้อฃวดน้ำให้ฅนนั้น
    ฉันซื้อขวดน้ำให้คนนั้น

For the ordinary modern spellings intended by this task, choose ฉันซื้อขวดน้ำให้คนนั้น: ขวดน้ำ is a bottle of water and คน refers to a person. The alternative uses ฃวด and ฅน. This choice does not rewrite a work’s exact title or certify the historical origin of either alternative spelling.
