Place ne before an ordinary finite verb to negate it.

How It Works

Place ne before an ordinary finite verb to negate it. Biti, imeti and hoteti have special common negative forms, so ne is not mechanically attached to every verb.

Keep ne as a separate written word with ordinary verbs: ne delam. Biti uses nisem, imeti uses nimam and hoteti uses nočem. Learning these common exceptions prevents forms such as ne imam from replacing the standard negative.
