اینجا و آنجا
Here and There
اینجا means here, and آنجا means there. Everyday Iranian often says اونجا for آنجا.
How It Works
Locate someone or something. من اینجا هستم. tells a listener “I am here.” آنجا آب هست. says “There is water there.” The words point to a place without naming it.
Add a relation. از اینجا means “from here.” به آنجا means “to there.” When the situation already makes a destination clear, everyday speech can use a location without a written-standard preposition: بیا اینجا. is an ordinary invitation or command.
Recognize the common spoken partner. اونجا is a common everyday Iranian form of آنجا. It is useful in dialogue; do not treat it as a formal spelling replacement in every passage.
Here and there depend on who is speaking and what place the conversation points to. Keep that viewpoint when translating.
