gerbiamasis / gerbiamoji
Formal Letter Address
Gerbiamasis pone Jonai! means Dear Mr. Jonas! Use feminine Gerbiamoji when addressing a woman.
How It Works
Choose the person. Gerbiamasis addresses a man; gerbiamoji a woman. Plural gerbiamieji can address a mixed group or men, and gerbiamosios a group of women.
Name or title. Gerbiamasis Jonai! and Gerbiamoji direktore! show the vocative. A title and name can be combined where appropriate. Avoid treating the nominative dictionary form as the universal address form.
Letter style. A salutation may end with an exclamation mark or a comma, depending on the letter style. Pagarbiai, respectfully, is a common closing; it is not another vocative.
