palei + accusative

Along with Palei

Level 6

Ėjome palei upę. means We walked along the river.

How It Works

Movement. Eiti palei sieną means to walk along the wall, not through it. The landmark supplies the line followed.

Position. Palei kelią auga medžiai. Trees are positioned along the road; they are not moving. The preposition still takes accusative kelią.

Case. Common complements are palei upę, palei krantą and palei sieną. Do not choose the locative merely because a sentence describes a location.
