turklāt
Moreover: Turklāt
Turklāt adds one more point to what you have just said. Dzīvoklis ir liels, turklāt lēts. (The flat is big and, moreover, cheap.)
How It Works
1. Adding a point. Turklāt works like English moreover, besides or on top of that:
- Dzīvoklis ir liels, turklāt lēts. (The flat is big and, moreover, cheap.)
- Viņa runā trīs valodās, turklāt ļoti labi. (She speaks three languages, and very well at that.)
2. Adding a reason. It is common when you give one more reason for a choice:
- Ir jau vēls, turklāt es esmu noguris. (It is already late, and besides, I am tired.)
3. Starting a sentence. Turklāt can open a new sentence that piles on another fact:
- Restorāns bija slēgts. Turklāt sāka līt. (The restaurant was closed. On top of that, it started to rain.)
4. Commas. When turklāt adds a new clause or an extra detail, as in these examples, put a comma before it. Do not put a comma after it: Turklāt sāka līt.
Not a time word. Turklāt adds information; it does not order events. For after that, use tad or pēc tam (see tad). For a list of items in careful style, see kā arī.

Using turklāt for the next event in time.

Leaving out the comma before turklāt.
