へん
Kansai: A Casual Verb Negative
Casual -へん makes a negative verb predicate in Osaka-centered Kansai speech.
How It Works
Compare 書く → 書かへん and 食べる → 食べへん. This is the verb negative, not the negative of every word containing ない.
する can be せえへん; short stems vary between -へん and -ひん shapes across speakers and localities. 来る and other short stems vary locally and between speakers; learn the actual form rather than applying one replacement to all Kansai varieties.
An upward question can make a suggestion or invitation, but a negative statement is also possible. Polite ません is shared and should not be removed in respectful scenes.
