Eclipsis
Eclipsis prefixes a consonant, as in bád becoming mbád and teach becoming dteach. The written original consonant remains visible.
How It Works
Eclipsis prefixes a consonant, as in bád becoming mbád and teach becoming dteach. The written original consonant remains visible.
Eclipsis changes how the beginning of the word is read while retaining the original initial in spelling. Thus mbád is read with an initial m sound, and dteach with an initial d sound. Learn the trigger too: the possessive ár is one word that calls for eclipsis.
