ith / íosfaidh
Eating in Present and Future
Ith has present itheann and first-person ithim, but future íosfaidh: Íosfaidh mé arán. Preserve the initial fada in the future stem.
How It Works
Ith has present itheann and first-person ithim, but future íosfaidh: Íosfaidh mé arán. Preserve the initial fada in the future stem.
Ith uses present itheann with a separate subject and ithim for I eat. The independent future has the stem íos-, as in íosfaidh; the initial fada belongs to that stem. Its affirmative past d'ith follows a different pattern.
