si: From
si + place + verb: from.
How It Works
Si before a place says where someone started. It comes before the verb.
| Example | Meaning |
|---|---|
| O si Enugwu bịa. | He or she came from Enugu. |
| Ị si ebee bịa? | Where do you come from? |
| Ha si Aba bịa. | They came from Aba. |
The pattern is si + place + bịa, “come from”. The similar word sị means “say” and comes in a later lesson.
