Morning, Afternoon, Evening

Level 1

Time + ọma: ụtụtụ ọma, ehihie ọma, mgbede ọma.

How It Works

Ọma means “good”, and the time of day goes first.

SayMeaning
Ụtụtụ ọma.Good morning.
Ehihie ọma.Good afternoon.
Mgbede ọma.Good evening.

Add a name or title: Ụtụtụ ọma, Maazị Obi. The answer is usually the same greeting back. A night greeting is not taught here. The three words follow the day in order: ụtụtụ is morning, ehihie is midday and mgbede is evening. Ọma “good” also appears in ihe ọma “a good thing”.
