Words That Say How: nke ọma, ngwa ngwa
How: Adverbs
Verb + how: Bịa ngwa ngwa. Kwuo nwayọọ.
How It Works
These adverbs come last in the clause.
| Word | Meaning | Example |
|---|---|---|
| nke ọma | well | Ọ na-asụ Igbo nke ọma. |
| ngwa ngwa | quickly | Bịa ngwa ngwa. |
| nwayọọ | slowly | Kwuo nwayọọ. |
You will use nwayọọ a lot when you ask someone to speak slowly: Biko, kwuo nwayọọ. These words do not change, and they usually come after the verb or its object.
Nke ọma is written as two words. Ngwa ngwa repeats ngwa, which also stands alone as “come on” in a later lesson.
