Do Not: a- or e- Plus -la
a-/e- + root + -la: Agala. Erila. Abịala.
How It Works
The pattern works for most verbs.
| Root | Do not | Example |
|---|---|---|
| ga | agala | Agala ahịa. Do not go to the market. |
| ri | erila | Erila nri ahụ. Do not eat that food. |
| bịa | abịala | Abịala ebe a. Do not come here. |
This ending looks like the perfect -la (ọ bịala “he or she has come”) but the prefix tells you it is a command. Add -nụ to speak to several people. Pair it with biko to be polite.
