How It Works

Beyond Neutral Order

Neutral אני קורא את הספר הזה is a useful starting order. Fronted את הספר הזה, אני קורא עכשיו can contrast that book with another item or connect to a book already under discussion. The fronting does not make the book the subject.

Keep the Relationship

את דנה, ראיתי אתמול preserves Dana as the definite direct object. Personal verb forms can make the reader or observer recoverable even without a separate subject pronoun. The punctuation helps frame the topic in these examples but does not create the grammatical relationship.

A Related Topic Pattern

הספר הזה, אני קורא אותו uses a noun topic plus an object pronoun inside the sentence. It is a related discourse structure, not a rule that every fronted את phrase must receive a second אותו. Learn the full sentence and its reference pattern rather than mechanically duplicating objects.
