The Simple Past
The active aorist presents a past event as a whole.
How It Works
The active aorist presents a past event as a whole.
Many verbs have a perfective stem with -σ-, but stem changes and irregular forms are common. A whole past event may last a long time; aorist is not restricted to brief actions.
