Days of the Week
Seven day names, all with a small first letter.
How It Works
| Day | Meaning | Day | Meaning |
|---|---|---|---|
| lundo | Monday | ĵaŭdo | Thursday |
| mardo | Tuesday | vendredo | Friday |
| merkredo | Wednesday | sabato | Saturday |
| dimanĉo | Sunday |
Day names are not proper names, so they have a small first letter, unlike Ana or Brazilo.
After estas, a day needs no la: Hodiaŭ estas sabato, kaj morgaŭ estos dimanĉo.
Add -e to say that something happens on that day, usually every week: Lunde mi lernas means that I study on Mondays. A later topic shows how to name one particular Monday.
Use the same pattern for the other days: Hieraŭ estis dimanĉo (yesterday was Sunday), morgaŭ estos mardo (tomorrow will be Tuesday). To check a day, ask with ĉu: Ĉu hodiaŭ estas ĵaŭdo? and answer with jes or ne.
