doncs, bé, d'acord
Basic Discourse Markers
Doncs draws a conclusion or moves a conversation forward; d’acord signals agreement.
How It Works
Doncs can connect an inference to what was just said: no tens gana? Doncs no cal cuinar. It also introduces the next move in a conversation. Bé can acknowledge an answer or open a turn; d'acord confirms agreement.
For a cause, use perquè rather than doncs: no vinc perquè estic malalt. For simple time sequence, use després, llavors or aleshores. English then can express either sequence or consequence, so it does not always translate as doncs.
Entesos acknowledges that something is understood. Vinga can encourage action or signal that it is time to move on. These markers are short, but their force depends on intonation and context; d'acord is a useful neutral agreement formula.
