така че
So with Така Че
(It was late, so we went to bed.) The part after така че is the result.
How It Works
1. Cause, then result. Say what happened first, then add така че and the consequence:
- Нямам кола, така че ще дойда с автобус. (I don't have a car, so I will come by bus.)
(It was raining hard, so the match was postponed.)
The order cannot be reversed: the reason never follows така че. To give the reason second, use защото or тъй като.
2. Where the comma goes. This is the classic spelling trap:
- , така че means so, therefore. It can be replaced by
- така, че means in such a way that. Here така belongs to the first clause: Говори така, че всички да те чуят. (Speak so that everyone can hear you.)
3. Starting a sentence. In conversation Така че can open a sentence that draws a conclusion from what was said before: Така че какво решихте? (So what did you decide?)
For purpose rather than result, the usual choice is за да.

I'm not hungry, so don't cook for me.

With the comma after така, the meaning is "in such a way that", not "therefore".

At the start of a sentence, така че draws a conclusion from what was said before.
