How It Works
Offering a choice
- Чай или кафе? — Tea or coffee?
- Ще платите в брой или с карта? — Will you pay in cash or by card?
- Ще дойда днес или утре. — I will come today or tomorrow.
A single или has no comma before it, whether it joins two words or two short sentences.
Questions with ли … или
When the first part is a question with ли and the second choice follows with или, write a comma before или: Работиш ли днес, или почиваш? (Are you working today, or are you off?)
Или … или
Repeated или … или means "either … or", with a comma before the second или: Или днес, или утре. See Either ... Or.
И or или?
Do not confuse the two: и adds things together (чай и кафе, tea and coffee), while или asks you to pick one.
