да пабачэння
Saying Goodbye
Да пабачэння! is the neutral goodbye. Бывай! is a casual bye to one friend, and Бывайце! is for several people.
How It Works
- Да пабачэння: goodbye. It suits anyone, from a shop assistant to a teacher.
- Да сустрэчы: see you (soon). Friendly and neutral.
- Бывай / бывайце: bye. These are command forms of бываць, so they follow the ты/вы pattern: бывай to one friend, бывайце to a group or politely. See загадны лад -це.
- Да + a time word: да заўтра (see you tomorrow), да вечара (see you tonight), да панядзелка (see you on Monday).
- Шчасліва!: take care, all the best.
- Дабранач: good night, when parting at night.
The noun after да goes into the genitive: пабачэнне → да пабачэння, сустрэча → да сустрэчы. See да + родны кірунку.
