Як means how: Як справы? (How are things?), Як гэта сказаць па-беларуску? (How do you say this in Belarusian?)

How It Works

Manner. Як asks in what way something is done: Як ты едзеш на працу? (How do you get to work?) — На аўтобусе. (By bus.)

Condition. Як asks how someone or something is: Як ты? (How are you?), Як справы? (How are things?)

Names. Belarusian asks for a name with як, not with a word for what: Як цябе завуць? The person is in the accusative: цябе, вас, яго.

Exclamations. Як смачна! (How tasty!), Як тут прыгожа! (How beautiful it is here!)

Як or які? Як asks how. To ask what kind or what is he like, use які: Як ён? (How is he doing?) but Які ён? (What is he like?)
