-xe
Exactly This: -xe
Add -xe to point with extra force: hau → hauxe (this very one), hori → horixe (exactly that), hemen → hementxe (right here), orain → oraintxe (right now).
How It Works
Demonstratives.
- hau → hauxe, hori → horixe, hura → huraxe
- Plural: hauek → hauexek, horiek → horiexek, haiek → haiexek
- With the doer ending: honek → honexek, horrek → horrexek
- With other endings, -xe comes inside or at the end: horregatik → horrexegatik (for exactly that reason), honekin → honekintxe
See demonstratives with case endings.
Place and time words. These end in a consonant, so they take -txe:
- hemen → hementxe (right here), hor → hortxe, han → hantxe
- orain → oraintxe (right now, or just now), orduan → orduantxe (right then)
Manner words. honela → honelaxe (exactly like this), horrela → horrelaxe. See honela and horrela.
Even stronger. -xe often joins bera and its forms: horixe bera (that very thing), hementxe bertan (right here, on this very spot).
In answers. Horixe! or Horixe da! is a warm way to agree: "Exactly!" An emphatic word usually stands right before the verb, in the focus position.
