There's no Slovenian on Duolingo. On October 14, 2026, we read every course on Duolingo's own course list, and none of them teaches Slovenian.
Slovenian still has short lessons you can do on your phone, and one free course comes from the Centre for Slovene as a Second and Foreign Language in Ljubljana. Below, the apps are grouped by what they give you: a course in order, clips and word games, and audio. Our best apps to learn Slovenian has the tutors, reading apps, and radio from Slovenia too.
Custom Lessons Made for You
Bubblegum
For serious learners, Bubblegum is the best app to learn Slovenian. You learn from Slovenian you can mostly understand, which is called comprehensible input.
Poppy, your AI tutor in Bubblegum, writes Slovenian lessons just for you. If you're hiking near Lake Bled this spring, ask her for a lesson about trail signs and a chat at a mountain hut, then read it and listen to it.
Bubblegum has no human partners for speaking practice. Conversation partners and tutors are gathered in our full Slovenian comparison.
- Poppy fits every Slovenian lesson to your level and your topics.
- Extra reading comes from Slovenian news and stories.
- Poppy explains Slovenian word endings right inside the lesson.
- Slovenian words you saved resurface as you read new lessons.
- Clear, expressive AI voices read every lesson aloud, with a different voice for each speaker.
- There's no way to add your own books or articles.
- A new custom lesson costs us real money to make, so your first one is free, and Bubblegum Pro gives you unlimited custom lessons. The lesson library is free for everyone, because we believe everyone should be able to learn.

Common Questions
Which Slovenian app should a beginner choose?
If you are serious about learning Slovenian, start with Bubblegum. Poppy writes lessons at your level about things you like. Or start with Slonline if you want a course made in Slovenia, or Memrise if you'd like short videos of people talking. Slovenian is written in the Latin alphabet with three extra letters, č, š, and ž.
Is Slovene the same as Slovenian?
Yes, they're two English names for one language. Slonline and Glossika call it Slovene, and Memrise, Ling, and uTalk call it Slovenian, so search for both when you look for lessons.
Is Bubblegum free?
Yes. The lesson library is free for everyone, because we believe everyone should be able to learn. It holds lessons that other learners asked Poppy for. A new custom lesson costs us real money to make, so your first one is free, and Bubblegum Pro gives you unlimited custom lessons.
