Serbian is on Duolingo's course list, which we read on October 14, 2026, only as a base language. One English course for Serbian speakers is listed with zero learners, and no course teaches Serbian.
The apps below teach Serbian. They're sorted by the parts of Duolingo you might want to keep: a set lesson path, sentences you hear and say, and word games. Our Serbian app comparison covers tutors, reading, and language exchange.
Custom Lessons Made for You
Bubblegum
For serious learners, Bubblegum is the best app to learn Serbian. You learn from Serbian you can mostly understand, which is called comprehensible input.
Poppy, your AI tutor inside Bubblegum, turns what you want to talk about into Serbian lessons. Ask for a morning at a Belgrade bakery buying бурек, and that becomes a scene at your level, with audio. When a case ending trips you up, ask her why the word changed.
Bubblegum is not a person you can talk to out loud. Our comparison page has tutors and exchange apps for that.
- Learn every one of the 30 Serbian Cyrillic letters, such as Ћ and Њ, in its own course.
- Every lesson matches your level and a topic you picked.
- Serbian news and stories, each with audio.
- Regenerative Review™ folds saved Serbian words into fresh lessons, which turns reading into review.
- Clear, expressive AI voices read every lesson aloud, with a different voice for each speaker.
- There's no way to add your own books or articles.
- A new custom lesson costs us real money to make, so your first one is free, and Bubblegum Pro gives you unlimited custom lessons. The lesson library is free for everyone, because we believe everyone should be able to learn.

Common Questions
Which Serbian app should a beginner choose?
If you are serious about learning Serbian, start with Bubblegum. Poppy writes lessons at your level about things you like. Or start with Ling if you want a set path, or Drops if you'd like five-minute word games. Serbian has a Cyrillic and a Latin alphabet, each with 30 letters, and every letter stands for one sound.
Should I learn Cyrillic or Latin for Serbian?
Both help. Article 10 of Serbia's constitution puts Cyrillic in official use, so you'll see it on forms and in government. Latin letters are common online, on shop signs, and in the media, and many people in Serbia use both.
Is Bubblegum free?
Yes. The lesson library is free for everyone, because we believe everyone should be able to learn. It holds lessons that other learners asked Poppy for. A new custom lesson costs us real money to make, so your first one is free, and Bubblegum Pro gives you unlimited custom lessons.
