Which European Portuguese app should a beginner choose?
If you are serious about learning European Portuguese, start with Bubblegum. Poppy writes lessons at your level about things you like. Or start with Practice Portuguese if you want a full course for Portugal, or Pimsleur if you'd like to learn by listening.
Can Babbel's Portuguese course help with Portugal?
Some of it carries over. Babbel's own Portuguese page says speakers of the two varieties understand each other, and that words and pronunciation differ. It adds that European Portuguese makes more sense if you're planning a trip to Portugal.
