Duolingo doesn't teach Cebuano, also called Bisaya. No Cebuano course appeared on Duolingo's own course list when we read it on October 14, 2026.
A few apps teach Cebuano in short sessions, and one of them is built only for Bisaya. They're grouped here as listening practice, a game course, word games, and audio. For tutors and exchange partners, see our best apps to learn Cebuano.
Custom Lessons Made for You
Bubblegum
For serious learners, Bubblegum is the best app to learn Cebuano. You learn from Cebuano you can mostly understand, which is called comprehensible input.
Inside Bubblegum, your AI tutor, Poppy, builds Cebuano lessons out of your own plans. Before you fly to Cebu to see your partner's family, she can write a chat at a fiesta, and you can play it as many times as you like.
There's no human speaking partner inside Bubblegum. The tutors in our full Cebuano comparison are there for speaking practice.
- Your Cebuano lessons follow your level and the subjects you pick.
- Between lessons, Cebuano news and stories give you more to take in.
- Ask Poppy about any line, and she'll explain it.
- The Cebuano words you save turn up again in later lessons.
- Clear, expressive AI voices read every lesson aloud, with a different voice for each speaker.
- There's no way to add your own books or articles.
- A new custom lesson costs us real money to make, so your first one is free, and Bubblegum Pro gives you unlimited custom lessons. The lesson library is free for everyone, because we believe everyone should be able to learn.

Common Questions
Which Cebuano app should a beginner choose?
If you are serious about learning Cebuano, start with Bubblegum. Poppy writes lessons at your level about things you like. Or start with MyBisayaTutor if you want to train your ear, or Ling if you'd like game lessons in order. Cebuano uses Latin letters, so the words are easy to read from the start.
Is Cebuano the same as Bisaya?
Yes, for app shopping they're the same thing. uTalk's course is called Cebuano (Bisaya), and MyBisayaTutor teaches Cebuano under the name Bisaya, so search for both names.
Is Bubblegum free?
Yes. The lesson library is free for everyone, because we believe everyone should be able to learn. It holds lessons that other learners asked Poppy for. A new custom lesson costs us real money to make, so your first one is free, and Bubblegum Pro gives you unlimited custom lessons.
