Stories, audio, and videos can all help you learn Cebuano when you can follow what they mean. That is the idea behind comprehensible input: learning from Cebuano you can mostly understand. Learners on Reddit say Cebuano media is much harder to find than media in the other languages they have studied.
These apps and sites give you Cebuano at your level, or help you follow the Cebuano you pick yourself. For courses, speaking practice, and tutors, see our Cebuano app comparison.
Custom Lessons Made for You
Bubblegum
Learn Cebuano with a path made just for you. Start with your level, what you like, and why you want to learn. Your path grows as you learn, with new lessons that fit you. Bubblegum also has news and stories, so you can read and listen to a mix of Cebuano about music, food, family, or everyday life.
Poppy, your AI tutor, writes each lesson for your level and goals. If a sentence is hard to follow, just ask her to explain the words or the grammar.
The trade-off is that Bubblegum can't help you read Cebuano you found yourself. For a news story or a web page you already picked, Readlang is the better fit.
- Read and listen to lessons, news, and stories about things you like.
- New lessons fit your level, interests, and goals.
- Regenerative Review™ brings saved words back in new lessons, so you review them by reading instead of using flashcards.
- Ask Poppy for help as you read.
- Lesson audio uses AI voices, not recordings of Cebuano speakers.
- You cannot bring in your own books, articles, or videos.
- A new custom lesson costs us real money to make, so you can ask Poppy for a free one, and Bubblegum Pro gives you unlimited custom lessons. The lesson library is free for everyone, because we believe everyone should be able to learn.

Free Books, Conversations, News, and Podcasts
Free books are an easy place to start. Bloom Library has 425 free Cebuano books sorted into four levels, and you can read them online or in the Bloom Reader app on Android.
For upper beginners, LanguageCrush has a free course of 100 short Cebuano conversations, recorded by Cebuano speakers. You can read them without an account, and a free account lets you hear the audio. AI wrote the first drafts, and some Cebuano speakers on Reddit said a sample video sounded unnatural. Its Language Crush Cebuano channel on YouTube is made for intermediate learners.
For news, Superbalita Cebu from SunStar and Banat News post Cebuano news online, and GMA Regional TV posts its Cebuano TV news, Balitang Bisdak, on YouTube every day. News Cebuano is formal, and one reply on Reddit calls Balitang Bisdak "pretty advanced Bisaya," so save it for after the basics.
For listening, Dili Ni Advice is a Bisaya podcast by two sisters from Davao City who talk about pop culture and modern life. It is made for Cebuano speakers, so it suits learners who can follow everyday speech.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Cebuano the same as Bisaya?
Mostly, yes. Many Cebuano speakers call their language Bisaya or Binisaya, and the Cebuano of Bohol is often called Boholano. Bisaya can also mean other Visayan languages, such as Hiligaynon, so check that a book or video is in Cebuano before you start.
Can I learn Cebuano from shows?
Yes, once you know the basics. Kuan on One, a Cebuano talk show hosted by Melai Cantiveros, has English and Filipino subtitles, and its episodes are on ABS-CBN Entertainment's YouTube channel. Learners on Reddit like it for listening, and they also watch the Cebuano interviews on Chito Samontina's channel.
Does Cebuano sound the same everywhere?
No. Cebuano changes from place to place. In Davao, many speakers mix in Tagalog words, such as saying tapos instead of dayon for "then." If you know where the people you want to talk to are from, look for shows and podcasts from there.
Is Bubblegum free?
Yes. The lesson library is free for everyone, because we believe everyone should be able to learn. It holds lessons that other learners asked Poppy for. A new custom lesson costs us real money to make, so you can ask Poppy for a free one, and Bubblegum Pro gives you unlimited custom lessons.
