Live or Dead?
Before you work out a tone, ask one question: is the syllable live or dead? A live syllable ends in a sound you can hold. A dead syllable stops short.
Live
Ends in a long vowel, or in ม, น, or ง.
Dead
Ends in a short vowel, or in ก, ด, or บ.
