What Is a Tone?
When you say a word, your voice can stay level, go up, or go down. In Thai, that pattern is called a tone, and it's part of the word. Change the tone, and you can change the meaning!
Your first words all have a mid tone, so you say them with a steady, level voice. มา has a mid tone even though ม is a low-class letter.
